Like many folks, I am busy reflecting on the year gone by and making plans for 2012. One thing I like to do at this time is select my favorite photos. Over the next few posts I will share these favorites with you. My top ten countdown continues with these images.
Smith Island is a wonderful place to photograph. It is a small archipelago in the middle of the Chesapeake Bay, about a 45 minute ferry boat ride west of Crisfield, MD. The work basin in Ewell offers an abundant number and variety of subjects throughout the day. This crab shanty, old wooden pier, skiff, and the predawn light reminded me of the Louisiana backcountry.
When photographing parades, of course you shoot the colorful floats, marching bands, etc. Remember to capture images of the onlookers such as this young lady. She was literally bundled with joy as she watched the annual Mayor’s Christmas Parade in Baltimore’s historic Hampden neighborhood.
