On Sunday, April 6th, Words Beats & Life Inc. presented the Fine Lines Mural Jam in partnership with HiArts and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. The event featured more than 50 artists from the Baltimore-Washington DC metro area as well as crews from Philadelphia and New Jersey.
Fine Lines Mural Jam was an all-day event. It was fascinating watching the artists at work. First they laid down the background and image outline. Next came the base colors. Throughout the afternoon they used various brush/spray strokes to add depth, dimension, and shadowing to their artwork. At day’s end, colorful, captivating works of art filled the entire length of the 900 foot concrete wall at day’s end.
Baltimore was well represented by artists Nether, Siek, Stab, Stefan Ways, and Wake. I believe the artist Soviet also hails from Baltimore. He created an intriguing mural. Click here to see the artwork by all the B’more artists as well as work by Metro area artists Cre, Danielle Mastrion, Jay Hudson, Nev, Pose, and Trifer; by the NSF Crew; by Jersey-based Rain; and by many more.
Here is the artist Caktuz starting work on his mural and his finished work.
I highly recommend it you visit and enjoy all this artwork … located behind the shopping plaza at 514 Rhode Island Avenue NE, Washington DC.
